In the last years in fact audiovisuals assumed a relevant role in the cultural and scientific media production, originating new problems to be tackled about their preservation in well organised collections.
Four main types of beneficiaries are targeted by the project:

  • sound and video technicians, usually with a poor background and no specific competence about cultural contents and their management;
    people expert in specific cultural contents, but not skilled in technical and management issues;

  • students of vocational schools, new graduates and youngsters interested in audiovisuals or looking for a job in the sector.
  • Young people wishing to enter in the audiovisual labour market are especially subject to the risk of short-term contracts, in a deregulated framework from the point of view of social rights.

    Audiovisual collections are analogue to traditional paper documents collections such as archives and libraries. Consequently they require similar professional skills for the management of the documents and services for their users: however and moreover the specific content of audiovisual documents (sound and video recordings, photo film and multimedia) requires specific skills for the development of catalogues and retrieval and accessibility systems and tools, as well as their physical characteristics require a specific know-how concerning preservation. Recently the development of digital techniques and networks revolutionized the sector.
